Beard Papa's Fresh and Natural Cream Puffs
Review by HQ

I rode by this place at least 10 ten times thinking that the line might be shorter next time. Finally, I said "fuck it" and waited. I got one two minutes later, walked outside and said "THOSE FUCKING JAPANESE DID IT AGAIN." Fucking Medicom and their addicting Kubricks, fucking Takashi Miike and his completely fucked mind with "Ichi" and his hyper-violent debauchery, and fucking Sony with PS1, PS2, PSP, and soon-to-be PS3. Those Japanese gets enough respect due. But not till you try a Beard Papa's Cream Puff, bitch.
This cream puff is the jump-off. First is the puff or a fist-sized pastry shell called a Choux. This has a crispy outside and a delicate piecrust inside. Second is the Cream or a whipped cream custard with naturally grown vanilla beans. The cream puffs are made to order and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Each of the choux's are made fresh each day and the custards are made with no preservatives. If you order them you best eat them right away. Seriously, Beard Papa's recommends that you eat them within five hours of purchase.

They hit stateside last spring and I shit myself for hearing about Beard Papa's only now. Currently there's only 3 stores in operation scattered about Manhattan with more surely on the way. The Astor Place store has the usual pan asian-decor with it's eccentric accents of vanilla bean graphics, the colour yellow, mirrors, and scarves. The lines are normally long but run fast. The seating is shit but having a friend scope out a spot while the next orders works great. The clientele is mostly Asian. Haole's/Crackers are peppered about at this place so don't worry about it.
