Review Camp Hero- Montauk, NY
by: Tommy X

I do not consider myself a conspiracy theorist, but regarding certain legendary stories, my interests have been growing steadily enough to make me less attractive to the opposite sex. It's not tin foil hat time yet, but this is a rapidly growing interest of mine. A large part due to this is my discovery of The Montauk Project- otherwise known as The Phoenix Project over 10 years ago.The Phoenix Project began in the mid- 1940's as a weather modification
experiment on a remote Air Force base on the eastern tip of Long Island in
the town of Montauk, called Camp Hero. Around the same time, the Navy was experimenting with radar invisibility on a ship called the U.S.S. Eldridge
in a Philadelphia shipyard.

The experiment was successful- almost. The ship completely disappeared, along with the crew members for about 15 minutes. When the ship re-materialized, many of the crew members suffered from heightened psychic abilities and insanity, and some unlucky ones were fused
within the metal of the ship. This event gave birth to the more famous Philadelphia Experiment conspiracy. Two of the Eldridge crew members were transported to the coast of Long Island 40 years into the future and were brought in to the Camp Hero Air Force base to become involved with some of the most legendary science experiments ever fantasized by theorists or, in some way or extent actually occurred there. Some time in the 1950's, Project Phoenix began focusing less on experiments for controlling weather and more on human psychic applications for warfare, or PSI Corps, all supposedly being performed on the base in Montauk. The idea was to combine the power of human though with the new power of the
growing computer technologies quickly advancing around this time. Supposed Alien involvement developing these technologies has been widely discussed. There was even a machine built called a "Montauk Chair". A subject with great psychic abilities, such as the survivors of the U.S.S. Eldridge, was placed in the chair and through computing technologies and could materialize his very thoughts. It was one of these thoughts, imagined by a fed up test subject, that materialized in the form of a beast. The beast is said to have ended the project in 1980 by destroying the machines throughout the labs. It is believed that this beast, named "Junior" is still roaming the wilderness surrounding the base. There are even Bigfoot type photos out there of Junior. Pretty hilarious, right? And that's just the basic description of what supposedly went down there (I don't have the time or disc space to get to it all!) But take a trip out there and imagine this story. It is a fascinating historic facility, surrounded by strange colored buildings, mysteriously designed bunkers, HUGE gun batteries and a striking 30 ton reflector antennae atop a tall concrete tower. These buildings are fenced off and protected these days but much of the park is open to the public. Those lucky enough to go there anywhere from 25 to 4 years ago could sneak into these structures and see the weirdness inside. Up until 1995 there was much left over, such as out of date computers and machinery, but most has been cleared out by now. Even stranger was that up until then, despite from being shut down for almost 15 years, the radar dish was still moving! When in the area of 50 South Fairview Avenue Montauk NY, stop in and check it out. May I suggest even that you do a little research on the dubious functions Camp Hero served before you visit. Maybe if you are brave enough, perhaps hop a fence and explore inside some of the odd structures.
